The Upstate New York Engineers Training Fund is governed by a Board of Trustees consisting of an equal number of union and management (employer) members with Counsel for the Fund and the Accountants for the Fund available to provide guidance if/as needed. Apprenticeship programs are also provided to those wishing to learn the trades of heavy equipment operator and surveyor. The day-to-day operations are overseen by the Training Coordinator and the management of the three (3) Training Sites is handled by the Training Site Coordinators, all of whom answer to the Fund Administrator and/or to the Board of Trustees. This Training Fund has been fortunate enough to have been awarded by the Hazard Abatement Board a number of grants. The Fund was also awarded a Workforce Development Institute Grant to train-the-trainer in heavy equipment operation with global positioning systems (GPS) with no problems in the management of that funded project and those trained instructors have gone on to train a number of the heavy equipment operators in GPS. This Fund is able to obtain and use government excess property for training purposes through a contract with the U. S. Department of Labor.
